Terms of Use
1. About These Terms
Welcome to Navodaya Network ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding legal agreement between you ("you", "your", "User") and [Entity name pending — currently operated by Avtar Gour as a sole proprietor], the entity that owns and operates the Navodaya Network platform at navodaya.network and its associated mobile applications (collectively, the "Platform").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Platform.
These Terms are published in accordance with Rule 3(1)(a) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 ("IT Rules 2021"), the Information Technology Act, 2000 ("IT Act"), and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").
2. Eligibility
You may create an account and use the Platform if:
- You are at least 18 years of age, or
- You are between 13 and 18 years of age and have verifiable consent from your parent or legal guardian to use the Platform in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.
Children under 13 are not permitted to register. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will delete it promptly.
The Platform is intended for alumni, current students, faculty, and staff of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools. You confirm that the information you provide about your JNV affiliation is true and accurate.
3. Your Account
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and keep it updated.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activities that occur under your account.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account at support@navodaya.network.
- You may not create more than one account, share your account, or transfer it to another person.
- We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts at our discretion, subject to applicable law.
4. Licence to Use the Platform
Subject to your continued compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Platform for your personal, non-commercial use.
5. Your Content
"Your Content" means any text, photo, video, audio, link, comment, post, message, profile information, or other material you submit, upload, or display on or through the Platform.
You retain all rights you already have in Your Content. By submitting Your Content to the Platform, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify (for technical purposes such as formatting), display, distribute, and otherwise use Your Content solely in connection with operating, providing, and improving the Platform and our services. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except where Your Content has been shared with others who have not deleted it, or where retention is required by law.
You are solely responsible for Your Content. You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have all necessary rights, licences, consents, and permissions to submit Your Content and to grant us the licence above.
- Your Content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate the rights of any third party (including intellectual property, privacy, and publicity rights).
- Your Content complies with these Terms, our Community Guidelines, and all applicable laws.
We are an intermediary under the IT Act. We do not pre-screen or endorse Your Content and are not responsible for it. We may, but are not obligated to, remove Your Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
6. Acceptable Use
You must not, and must not allow others to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation, or these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
- Post, share, or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, harassing, threatening, hateful, racially or ethnically objectionable, invasive of privacy, or otherwise objectionable.
- Promote violence, terrorism, self-harm, suicide, or content that endangers the unity, integrity, defence, security, or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States, or public order.
- Spread misinformation, deepfakes, or impersonate any person or entity.
- Infringe any patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, or other intellectual property or proprietary right.
- Send unsolicited bulk communications, spam, chain letters, or any commercial solicitation not authorised by us.
- Use the Platform to collect personal information about other Users without their explicit consent.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Platform, except to the extent permitted by law.
- Use any automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access, monitor, or copy any part of the Platform without our prior written permission.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Platform or its infrastructure.
- Use the Platform to transmit malware, viruses, or any harmful code.
- Attempt to bypass any security features, rate limits, or access controls.

7. Reporting Violations and Grievance Officer
If you believe any content on the Platform violates these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or your legal rights (including intellectual property), please report it using the in-product reporting tools or contact our Grievance Officer:

We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, in line with the IT Rules 2021.
8. Removal and Suspension
We may, at our discretion and without prior notice, remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, restrict features, or take any other action we deem appropriate if we believe you have violated these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law, or if doing so is necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of our Users, the public, or us.
Where we suspend or terminate an account, we will, where reasonably practicable, provide notice and an opportunity to appeal, except in cases of severe or imminent harm or where prohibited by law.
9. Intellectual Property
The Platform, including its design, source code, databases, trademarks, logos, branding, copy, and all associated intellectual property (other than Your Content), is owned by or licenced to us. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the Platform other than the limited licence in Section 4.
If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, please submit a written notice to copyright@navodaya.network including:
- Identification of the work claimed to be infringed.
- Identification of the infringing material and its location on the Platform.
- Your contact details.
- A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, services, or content. We do not control these and are not responsible for them. Your interaction with any third party is solely between you and the third party.
11. Privacy
Our collection, use, and disclosure of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected.
We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any User-generated content, including any claims about a User's identity, affiliation with a JNV, employment, achievements, or other information. You are solely responsible for evaluating any User or content you interact with.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform.
- Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Platform will not exceed INR 1,000 (one thousand Indian Rupees) or the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, whichever is higher.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Navodaya Network, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claim, demand, loss, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the Platform, (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (d) your violation of any third-party right.
15. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from your settings. We may terminate or suspend your access to the Platform at any time as described in Section 8.
Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 9, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, and 19) will survive.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Platform or by email and update the "Last Updated" date below. Your continued use of the Platform after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Subject to Section 18 below on disputes, the courts at Jaipur, Rajasthan shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Platform.
18. Disputes
Before initiating any legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at support@navodaya.network and attempt to resolve the matter informally. We will use commercial efforts to do the same. Either party may initiate legal proceedings only if the dispute is not resolved within 30 days of the first contact.
19. General
- Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
- No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms freely.
- Notices. We may give notices through the Platform, by email, or by posting on the Platform.
